Granice Vineyard

Previous Next

"Granice" vineyard was established in 2015 and is located in Zgłobień adjacent to Rzeszów. The name refers to the location of the facility on the border of two towns: Niechobrz and Zgłobień. Maciej Sowiński is the owner. He is a mathematician by education and a vintner by passion. The vineyard stretches on the southern slope of the hill at a height of 296 m above sea level, 700 m from the Millennium Cross in Niechobrz. The picturesque and hilly area favours hiking and cycling trips. It is located directly at the owner's house, where a wine cellar, processing plant and tasting room are located.

Despite the fact that the road infrastructure Zgłobnia is less developed than in Rzeszów, access to the vineyard is easy and comfortable, due to the asphalt road leading to the gate. Coming from Rzeszów one should turn right at the roundabout in Niechobrze and then before the school turn left towards the Millennium Cross, after driving about 2.5 km upwards a wooden house with blue shutters and a vineyard and beautiful views of the surrounding area and Rzeszów can be seen on the right. Currently, the vineyard covers an area of 30 ares and there are 1,500 shrubs of the following varieties: Seyval Blanc, Solaris, Hibernal for white wines and Rondo and Regent for red wines. For many years, the owner has been systematically gaining experience and knowledge in the field of wine making. The purchase of a plot that would meet the requirements to establish a vineyard as well as the construction of a house with a wine cellar from the very beginning were subordinated to the idea of delving into the secrets of wine production. The unique character of this charming place emphasises the house made of larch logs, and the brick cellar which was constructed in the ground, thanks to which the conditions inside it remain unchanged regardless of external conditions. It seems that time goes by more slowly here. Even the owner, after fulfilling all duties, willingly devotes himself to the idea of Slow Food, an indispensable element of which is wine. Due to the fact that it is a young vineyard, the first successful harvest, which took place in autumn 2017 should be called a success. The first wines were created in the 2017/2018 season. White and red blended wines are available for tasting in the vineyard. The owner provides services in the field of enotourism. Tastings, tours and feasting are organised here. Both individuals and organised groups can visit the vineyard. Touring around the vineyard is possible only upon prior arrangement. A year-round guesthouse will be available for people visiting the vineyard.
