Mazurak Vineyard

The Mazurak Vineyard was founded in 2008 by Dorota and Krzysztof Mazurak in Błażowa, approx. 20 km south of Rzeszów. It covers half a hectare and 16 varieties of grapevines are grown there. The vineyard is located on the southern slope with an extensive view of the "Hungarian Route". There is also an organic lavender farm at the vineyard - currently about 800 plants are grown. For many years the Mazurak family has lived in Romania, where they developed a taste for wine. When they came back to Poland, they missed the landscape of grapevine rows. The search for the right plot of land took another three years until they found the wastelands in Błażowa which had previously belonged to the state. The vineyard is beautifully situated near the top of the hill, at an altitude of almost 350 m above sea level and over 100 meters from the bottom of a nearby valley. A sunny location, good soil quality and, of course, the owners' enological knowledge acquired over the years are a guarantee of good yields and, most importantly, good wines. Initially, the vineyard covered 20 ares, on which 640 grapevine plants of 8 varieties were planted, and in subsequent years further plantings increased the area of vineyard to half a hectare and about two thousand bushes of 16 varieties. The first harvest was reaped in 2011; the owners are planning to enlarge the vineyard to three hectares, to plant different experimental varieties and to continue their adventure with enotourism. There are also plans concerning the building of a small complex consisting of a processing plant, cellar and a tasting room surrounded by several guest houses.
The varieties currently grown in the Mazurak vineyard include: Riesling, Hibernal, Sibera, Solaris, Muscaris, Aurora, Bianca and Seyval Blanc for white wines, and Cabernet Cantor, Cabernet Cortis, Dorfelder, Monarch, Regent, Leon Millot, Marechal Foch and Swenson Red for red wines. The owners actively participate in the work of the Winemakers Association of Subcarpathia, take part in wine and enological training, meetings and conferences. They are aware that they have to keep on learning and exchange experiences with other winemakers.

The owners invite to the Mazurak Vineyard for commented tours and wine tastings and refreshments. This is possible only by prior arrangement; both for individuals and organised groups. And there are many wines worth tasting - even some of the first wines from the Mazurak Vineyard won two medals in the 2nd Galician Wine Competition. Since then, almost every year the wines produced by the Mazurak family win medals, especially the red wine Marlon which was awarded the silver medal in 2016. The last medal was awarded in the 6th Polish Wine Competition Jasło 2017 to the wine Solamus 2016 (produced from the Muscaris varieties) - a bronze medal in the category of Polish white wines.
